Well....

So how is it going with you? Did you really think that you would have made it this far? Did you think that your legs would hurt this much? Did you think that Jeremy would really keep up these ridiculous questions? Well you are right my friend.

I don't know about you - but I am finding it hard to push myself. It is difficult to go that extra block or to not stop where I would normally slow down. I would love to hear your solutions for pushing it that next step? Motivate me. Maybe I need another turkey to trot with...

Joining the Turkeys

I have ran three times this week. Two long and one short. The short one is about a mile. I am not sure how long the long one is since the odometer in my truck does not work. Becca, can you fly out here and walk around it for me so I know how far I am going?

Goals:
To run the whole way with out having to walk
buy new shoes
impress everyone driving by with my chicken legs

Let's Talk Turkey - "Gobble - Gobble!"

Actually, this big turkey needs to lose a few pounds to make it around the coop. We're trying dietbites.com per the Christenson Turkeys. Seems to work for them! Therefore - I hope my new name will be "GobbleNoMore".

Weekly Updates...

Let us know how you are doing... I have not run yet this week (perhaps tonight). But I did lift some weights last night. If you were able to get out and "shake n' bake" these last few days, or upcoming days, Go ahead and tell us about it in the comment sections. You know you want to... we are all friends. By the way.... "After workout" pictures are encouraged.

As Grandma Turkey says - Out!

Keep Trot'n

Okay, the Senior Turkey has only worked out twice this week for a total of 2 miles. He hopes to strut a bit further this coming week, but with predictions that the weather could be in the 90's, his goose may be cooked ... or is that a mixed metaphor? More updates later.

Tips from the Chicken

Here are some quick tips for those who are starting to run. They have seemed to help me. I have not had many injuries to this point.
  1. Good Running Shoes:You have to have shoes for running. This really will be the only expense that you will have for running. All the books say that a pair of running shoes should only last 500 miles. I know that seems short - but you can run so much better if your feet/legs don't hurt.
  2. Stretching: We all know that we need to stretch. But did you know that it is better to stretch after running and not before? There is no real need to stretch before hand (do a warm-up walk instead). But if you stretch afterwards - you will feel so much better!
  3. Drink lots of water (or gatorade): You will need lots of liquids. I have started buying Gatorade powder and then mix it up myself. Much cheeper.
  4. Cold showers: Trust me - there are not many things like a good run and a cold shower.

Those are my tips.... Do you have any to share?

New Pedometer!

I got my pedometer in the mail yesterday. Here is the link from Amazon. I'm not sure this model is the best for running, it says that it is a "walking style." I was reading the instructions and it said that it won't measure jogging very well. If anyone finds a better one, let us know!

I set it up around 1pm and my total steps for the day were 7,022. I went and worked out for 35 minutes.
